Mar - Aug 1997	Research Elective, Saint Louis University School of Medicine Preceptor: Allyn Howlett, Ph.D. Characterized the signal transduction mechanisms of the CB2 [cannabinoid] receptor in HL60 promyelocytes.
Jan - Nov 1995	Research Elective, Cox Laboratory for Biomedical Engineering, Rice University Preceptor: A.G. Mikos, Ph.D. Analyzed poly (lactic-co-glycolic) acid / poly ethylene glycol blends for their structural potential as degradeable vascular stents. Results presented at American Institute of Chemical Engineering National Conference in November, 1995.

1996-2000	Aid for Impaired Medical Students Committee Provided a confidential route for student advocacy and access to mental health services. Organized activities to promote stress relief among medical students. Committee established an annual conference to address transition to clinical years and residency application process.
1996-2000	American Medical Association, Medical Student Section Delegate to AMA-MSS Section II Meeting in September, 1997. Organized meeting to present conference highlights to classmates.
1996-1999	Class Secretary (MSI/MSII/MSIII), Saint Louis University Generated and distributed a monthly newsletter containing class announcements and current events.
1996-1998	Note Service Secretary (MSI/MSII), Saint Louis University Composed guidelines for medical student transcription service, scheduled daily student participation, and facilitated conflict resolution.
